May 13th, 2017: ‘Clif Wright Legacy Tournament’

I hope that you can join us on Saturday, May 13 for a squash tourney and a dinner to honor our friend Clif Wright.  As you know, Clif passed away at the age of 47 years old, leaving all of us stunned and saddened.  Like me, I am sure each of you remember fondly his laughter and his unending blather about the appropriate application of squash rules.
Our purpose for the tournament will be to create a fund to extend Clif’s legacy.  All tax-deductible money raised will be donated to SquashSmarts to establish a fund and send one or more deserving SquashSmart kid annually to the Williams College-based Squash and Beyond Summer Camp.  (As you will recall, Clif was a passionate alum of Williams College.)
So mark your calendars!  Our squash tourney will begin at 12 noon and should end around 3 PM.  Players of all abilities are welcome (and will be appropriately handicapped).   The tournament format will be finalized when we have determined the number of players participating.  The entry fee of $50 per participant will gain you a place in the tourney and a handsome commemorative shirt with the remainder going to the SquashSmarts fund.  The T-shirts have been donated by an anonymous donor so the entire $50 is tax-deductible!  Please join us and encourage as many other players as possible to join us as well.
Secondly, we will host a dinner that evening, beginning at 6 PM, at Restaurante Castello  (Blue Bell, PA) where we will mingle with Clif’s family, his friends from Williams and our squash brethren (and sistren ;).  Dinner will be a four-course affair, with wine included, for $100 per head.  Beer and alcohol will be available for purchase.  We also encourage you to bring a bottle of wine for a blind wine-tasting and auction. As with the squash tournament, all are welcome and being charitable will never have been so much fun or good-tasting!
Finally, we are also asking for your additional generosity in giving as much as you can directly to the fund.  Details are being finalized but certain generous benefactors are interested in matching your direct donations.
